雨音｜樺皮編みの敷き
天然の樺皮を用い、手作業で編み上げた敷きものです。樺皮が本来持つ防湿性としなやかさを活かし、裁断と交錯する編みによって、安定感とほどよい弾力のある構造に仕上げています。茶器などの器物の下敷きとして、また卓上の断熱や日常の緩衝材としてお使いいただけます。
編みは均質さを目的とせず、樺皮それぞれの厚みや色合い、繊維の表情といった自然な個体差をそのまま残しています。そのため、使用を重ねるにつれて生じる変化や痕跡も、この敷きの一部として現れてきます。器や卓面を保護しつつ、触感や素材の温もりを過度に損なわない点も特徴です。
この敷きは、素材の持つ本来の性質と、使い手との時間的な関係性を大切にしています。一度きりの「完成」を目指すのではなく、日々の置き、取り上げる行為の中で、少しずつ使い手に馴染んでいく器物です。

This mat is handwoven from natural birch bark. By cutting and interlacing the bark, the material’s inherent moisture resistance and flexibility are transformed into a stable structure with gentle resilience. It is suitable for use as a protective mat for tea vessels, for thermal insulation on tabletops, or as a cushioning layer in everyday settings.
Rather than aiming for uniformity, the weaving preserves the natural variations in thickness, color, and texture of the birch bark. Over time, traces of use gradually appear, becoming part of the mat’s character. While protecting both vessel and surface, it maintains the original tactility and warmth of the material without excessive intervention.
This mat emphasizes the honest qualities of the material and a patient relationship with use. It does not seek a fixed or immediate perfection, but instead acquires its form through repeated placement and handling, slowly adapting to its user over time.
